Next add the last Color 2 strip to the top, pressing seam towards the top... |

Now sew the Color 3 pieces together as shown at left, still using all SCANT 1/4" seams, and always stopping 1/4" before the end of the strip. Make one set of "stairs" going up to the left... |

Inset the left and right facing
stairs into the larger part of the block. To do this, start at the
top of the "stairs", sew IN towards the first corner, then
keeping the needle down, pivot fabric to align the un sewn sides,
and continue in this matter to the bottom of the block. Repeat this
with the other side, and you are done! Congratulations! :o)
