** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by  marking and cutting the Color 1  3-1/2" x 7 strip into two 3-1/2" squares...

Next mark and cut the Color 1  7" x 13" strip into four 3-1/2" x 6-1/2" rectangles...

Now cut ONE of the Color 1  6-7/8" squares in half on the diagonal to make two half square triangles...

Then cut the Color 2  3-7/8" x 11-5/8" strip into three 3-7/8" squares. Stack these squares together and cut in half diagonally to make six half square triangles...

Mark and cut the Color 2  3-1/2" x 28" strip into eight 3-1/2" squares...

Next speed piece the half squares by stacking the Color1 and Color 2   6-7/8" squares right sides together. On the back of the top square lightly mark the diagonal. Sew 1/4" above the marked line, and then again a scant 1/4" on the other side of the marked line. Cut apart ON the marked line, to make two half squares. Press seam allowances towards the darker fabric. These should measure 6-1/2"...
