Then piece the block as shown at left. First make rows, and then sew the rows together, still using a scant 1/4" seam in each case. Press the seams of the top and bottom rows to the outside, and the seams of the center row to the center.

The quilt is four blocks by five, with VERY narrow sashing strips between the rows.
