** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

Referring to the supplies list, cut the strips and squares needed. Cut the Color 3  2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares. Cut the Colors 1 & 2   2-1/2" x 20" strips into eight 2-1/2" squares of each. Cut the Color 3  4-7/8" x 9-3/4" strip into two 4-7/8" squares...

Now cut each of the Colors 1, 2 and 3  4-7/8" squares in half once on the diagonal to make half square triangles...

Sew the half square triangles right sides together to make two each of the units shown at left, using the standard 1/4" seam. Press seams towards the darker fabric. This should measure 4-1/2" ...

Sew the smaller squares together, again using a 1/4" seam, to make two of each of the four patch units shown at left, pressing seams towards the darker fabric. These should measure 4-1/2" ...

With the remaining small squares make the center four patch as shown at left. These should measure 4-1/2" ...
