To make the block's corners, sew a Color 1 half square triangle to the left of a Color 1 small square, right sides together and using a 1/4" seam. Press seam towards triangle. Repeat this with another half square triangle on the top of the square. The edges of the triangles will extend slightly beyond the squares edges. Now sew a Color 2 half square triangle to the pieced unit, pressing seam towards the larger HST. Make four units like this...

Now piece the block. For it's side units, sew flying goose, and template pieced units together using a 1/4" seam allowance.  Make three rows, pressing rows in alternating directions, then join the rows to make the block!

 Here are four blocks by five, with a pieced border!

Color 2 needs: one 2-1/2" x 18" strip AND one 4-7/8" x 9-3/4" strip AND one 4-1/2" square AND enough for your templates, 3" x 24" strip should be PLENTY
