This makes a 9" block !

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by cutting the Color 1  3-1/2" x 14" strip into four 3-1/2" squares. You can "fussy cut" these if you prefer to get a similar motif from your Color 1 fabric is a specific location in the square...
 

 

Cut the Color 2  2" x 8" strip into four 2" squares...

 

 

Then cut the Color 3  4" x 12" strip into twelve 2" squares...

 

 

Using a scant 1/4" seam( now and throughout the block making!) sew together three Color 3 and one Color 2  2" square to make four of the corner units shown at left. Press seams to darker side where applicable. These should each measure 3-1/2"...

 

 

Now lay out the pieced corner units, the Color 1 squares and the Color 3  3-1/2" square as shown at left. Sew three horizontal rows, alternating pressing directions by row. Sew the rows together to finish up the block!...on to Page 2!
