Georgetown Circles Block Border

This is the border used on each Georgetown Circles Block, to make the quilt as I have shown it!

First cut four Color 1  3 1/2" x 12 1/2" rectangles...

Then cut eight Color 3  3 1/2" squares...

Place a Color 3  3-1/2" square right sides together and all edges lined up with one end of a Color 1 rectangle. On the back of the square, lightly draw the diagonal.  Sew ON this diagonal line. Cut off excess seam allowance and press remainder towards the rectangle. Repeat this with another square on the other end. make four units like this...

Now speed piece the half squares, by stacking a Color 4  3-7/8" x 7-3/4" with a color 2 strip of the same size, right sides together. On the back of the top strip lightly mark the 3-7/8" line, and then mark the diagonals as shown at left. Now sew a SCANT 1/4" above and below the marked diagonals, pivoting at the square line. Cut apart on the square line, and on the diagonal lines...

Sew a half square to each end of two rectangle units...

Now sew these units together around each Georgetown Circles Block! :o)
