Cornucopia - Page 2

Now place a Triangle D / Square E unit right sides together against the left inside slant of a parallelograms unit. Sew from the top edge to a point 1/4" from the inner point of the parallelogram. Keeping the needle in the fabric, fold the fabric towards you, pivoting the triangle /square unit up to match the remaining slant side of the parallelogram. Resume stitching to the edge of the triangle /square unit. Repeat this with the other parallelogram and triangle / square units...

Next sew one parallelogram unit to another along the bottom slant edge as shown at left. Sew this from the lower point of the parallelogram to a point 1/4" from the side edge. Press seam towards the darker fabric. Now we will inset a  C square into the corner formed by the two parallelograms. Place a C square right sides together against the right side of the top parallelogram. Sew this from the top edge to a point 1/4" from the bottom edge. Keep needle in fabric and fold fabric towards you, pivoting the square around to match up to the top side of the right hand parallelogram. Resume stitching to the edge of the square...

Then sew a G trapezoid right sides together to the bottom of the previously made unit, still using a SCANT 1/4" seam. Press seam allowance towards the top unit. This is the right side of the block. We're half way done!...

To begin the left side of  the block, sew a C square to the top edge of the remaining parallelogram unit, right sides together, and still using those SCANT 1/4" seams! Press the seam allowance towards the darker fabric. Now sew the F shape to the remaining slant edge of the parallelogram unit. Press seam allowance towards the darker fabric...on to Page 3!
