This makes a 21" block! It's comprised of four blocks, really.... :o)

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by marking and cutting the Color 3  8" x 16" into two 8 " squares...  

Then mark and cut the Color 3  5" x 16" strip into two 5" x 8" rectangles...

 

 

Now sew Color 1 2" x 8" strips to the top and bottom of a Color 3  5" x 8" rectangle, right sides together, and using all 1/4' seams. Press seams towards the outer strips. Mark and cut this unit at 2" intervals...

 

 

Next, sew Color 1  2" x 8" strips to the top and bottom of the other Color 3  5" x 8" rectangle. Press seams towards outer strips. Add Color 2  2" x 8" strips to the top and bottom, pressing seams again towards the outer strips. Mark and cut this unit at 2" intervals... 

 

 

Now sew the Color 1 / Color 3 strips to the top and bottom of the Color 3  8" squares, pressing seams towards the outer strips...on to Page 2
