** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by cutting the Color 1  6-7/8" x 13-3/4" strip into two 6-7/8" squares. Stack those squares and cut them in half along one diagonal to make two Half Square Triangles.

Next cut the Color 1  2-7/8" x 40-1/4" strip into fourteen 2-7/8" squares...

Now cut the Color 2  6-7/8" x 13-3/4" strip into two 6-7/8" squares. Stack those squares and cut them in half along one diagonal to make two Half Square Triangles.

Cut the Color 2  2-7/8" x 40-1/4" strip into fourteen 2-7/8" squares...

Then cut SIX of the Color 1 and Color 2   2-7/8" squares in half once on the diagonal to make twelve Half Square Triangles of each...

Next speed piece the Half Squares, by stacking the remaining Color 1 and Color 2  2-7/8" squares in pairs, right sides together and all edges aligned. On the back of the top squares, lightly mark the diagonals. Now sew 1/4" away from the marked lines on each side of them. Cut apart ON the marked diagonals. Each pair of squares will give you two Half Squares. Press seam allowances towards the darker fabric. Make a total of sixteen of these Half Squares. These should measure 2-1/2" ... on to Page 2!
