Make four of the Unit A, B, C and D shown at left. To do this, always using a 1/4" seam allowance, for Unit A: sew a Color 2 Half Square triangle to the Red side of a Half Square unit.

To make Unit B and Unit C: sew a Color 1 Half Square Triangle to the white side of a Half Square unit and a Color 2 Half Square Triangle to the Red side of the Half Square.

To make Unit D: sew a Color 1 Half Square triangle to the white side of a Half Square.

Sew a Color 2  6-7/8" Half Square Triangle to the left of each pieced Half Square units, then add a Color 1  6-7/8" Half Square triangle on the opposing side. Make four of these quarter-block units...

Now lay out the four quarter block units as shown at left. Sew two horizontal rows, and then join those halves to complete the block...

  Here on its side is a quilt made four blocks by five!
