** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by cutting the Color 1 5-1/4" square on the diagonal. Stack the resulting triangles and cut again on the other diagonal. This will give you the four top, bottom and side triangles...

 

 

Then mark and cut the Color 2  2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares...

 

Now mark and cut the Color 2  2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip into four 2-7/8" squares. Stack the squares and cut them once on the diagonal. this will give you the eight small triangles used in the quarter squares...

 

Next mark and cut the Color 3  5-1/4" x 10-1/2" strip into two 5-1/4" squares. Stack the squares and cut them once on the diagonal. Stack the resulting triangles and cut them once on the other diagonal. This will give you the eight triangles used in the quarter squares...
