Circle and Petal Templates!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

First Mark and cut the Color 3  3-1/2" x 14" strip into four 3-1/2" squares...

Next speed piece the two-colored half squares, by stacking the Color 1 and Color 3  3-7/8" x 15-1/2" strips right sides together. On the back of the top strip lightly mark the 3-7/8" square lines, then mark the diagonals in the direction shown at left. Sew using a 1/4" seam above and below the marked diagonals, pivoting at the square lines. Then cut apart ON the marked diagonals, and on the square lines as well, to give you eight half squares. These should measure 3-1/2"...

Do the same thing with the two Color 1  3-7/8" x 7-3/4" strips stacked right sides together to make four same color half squares...

Then, from the eighth yard of Color 2,using the template provided, cut out eight petal shapes, adding seam allowances as you do this. Hand gather each near the bottoms to a base width of about 2"....now...

Piece the Color 3 squares, the two-colored half squares and the same colored half squares to make an eight pointed star base. Make rows first, and then connect the rows!...on to Page 2!
