** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

Start by marking and cutting the following 2-1/2" wide Color 1 strips: four at 10-1/2" long, one 8-1/2" long, one 6-1/2" long, one 4-1/2" long, and thirteen 2-1/2" squares...

Then mark and cut the following 2-1/2" wide Color 2 strips: four at 10-1/2" long, one 8-1/2" long, one 6-1/2" long, one 4-1/2" long, and thirteen 2-1/2" squares...

Now mark and cut the following 2-1/2" wide Color 3 strips:  twelve 2-1/2" squares...

Next mark and cut the following 2-1/2" wide Color 4 strips: ten at 6-1/2" long, two 4-1/2" long, and fourteen 2-1/2" squares...Now, I suggest you lay out all your pieces as they will appear in the block, following the directions below!

Piece the block by making the following horizontal rows, using all scant 1/4" seams: ROW ONE: Color 1-6-1/2, Color 4 sq, Color 1-10-1/2,Color 4 sq, Color 1-4-1/2". ROW TWO: Color 2 sq, Color 4-6-1/2, Color 1 sq, Color 3sq, Color 2sq, Color 4-6-1/2, Color 1 sq, Color 3 sq.  ROW THREE: Color 2 sq, Color 4 sq, Color 2-10-1/2, Color 4 sq, Color 2-8-1/2. ROW FOUR: Color 4-4-1/2, Color 2 sq, Color 3 sq, Color 1 sq, Color 4-6-1/2. Color 2 sq, Color 3 sq, Color 1 sq Color 4 sq. ROW FIVE: Color 1-10-1/2, Color 4 sq, Color 1-10-1/2, Color 4 sq. ROW SIX: Color 1sq, Color 3sq, Color 2sq, Color 4-6-1/2, Color 1sq, Color 3sq, Color 2sq, Color 4-6-1/2...cont. on Page 2!
