The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Windows to the Sky block! You will need to print out four copies of the template page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper.

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by cutting the Color 4  4-1/2" x 9" strip into two 4-1/2" squares...

Stack the Color 1 and Color 2  4-7/8" squares right sides together and edges aligned. On the top of the back square lightly draw in the diagonal. Stitch 1/4" away from the drawn line on both sides. Cut apart on the draw line. Press seams to darker side. This will give you two half squares. You only need one for this block. Trim to measure 4-1/2" if needed...

Next complete your paper piecing of the four side units. Lay all units out as shown at left. Sew three horizontal rows. Join the rows to complete the block! ...on to Page 2!
