** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

  Start by cutting the Color 1  3-7/8" x 15-1/2" strip into four 3-7/8" squares. Stack the squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles...
   

 

Next cut the Color 2  3-7/8" x 15-1/2" strip into four 3-7/8" squares. Stack the squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles. Cut the Color 2  3-1/2" x 28" strip into eight 3-1/2" squares...

   

 

Using a scant 1/4" seam allowance, sew pairs of Color 1 and Color 2  3-7/8" half square triangles to make eight Half Square units. Press seams to darker side. Trim to measure 3-1/2" if needed...

   

Next lay out all the units as shown at left. Sew four horizontal rows, pressing seams in alternating directions by row. Join the rows to complete your Windmill # 3 block!  ...on to Page 2!
