This makes a 9" block and it's mostly paper pieced!

The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Walls of Jericho block! You will need to print out two copies of the template page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. Fat quarters will be plenty! You also need one 1-1/2" purple square for the center of the block.

Start off by lining up the purple 1-1/2" square right sides together against the lower right edge of a paper pieced unit, with the paper pieced unit oriented as you see it at left. Align outer edges. Stitch from a point 1/4" from the left edge of the small square to the outer right edge, backstitching at the beginning of that seam. Press out the seam toward the square...

Now add another paper pieced unit to the right of that...

Next add another unit to the bottom...on to Page 2!
