The pattern is written for 12" blocks.

(with 9" strip sizes next, in parenthesis) ( and 6" after that!)

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Cut the Color 1  4-7/8" x 9-3/4"  (3-7/8"x 7-3/4")(2-7/8" x5-3/4") strip into two 4-7/8" (3-7/8" ) (2-7/8") squares then stack the squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles ... Cut the Color 1  5-1/4" (4-1/4") (3-1/4") square in half on both diagonals to make four quarter square triangles...
Now cut the Color 2  4-1/2" x 22-1/2" (3-1/2" x 17-1/2")(2-1/2" x 12-1/2") strip into five 4-1/2" (3-1/2")(2-1/2") squares... Cut the Color 2  5-1/4" (4-1/4") (3-1/4") square in half on both diagonals to make four quarter square triangles...
Now sew together the Color 1 and Color 2 quarter square triangles in pairs, pressing seams to darker sides. To each of those now-pieced triangles add a Color 1 half square triangle, pressing towards larger triangle. These should measure 4-1/2" (3-1/2")(2-1/2") ...

Now lay out All the units as shown. Sew three horizontal rows, pressing the top and bottom row seams to the outside, and the middle row seam to the center. Join the rows, and the next Go-along star is done!
