** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Cut the Color 1  5-1/4" x 10-1/2" (4-1/4" x 8-1/2") (3-1/4" x 6-1/2") strip into two 5-1/4" (4-1/4") (3-1/4") squares. Stack these squares and cut them in half on both diagonals to make eight large quarter square triangles...
Next cut the Color 2  4-1/2" x 18" (3-1/2" x 14")(2-1/2" x 10") strip into four 4-1/2" (3-1/2")(2-1/2") squares...

Then cut the Color 2  5-1/4" x 10-1/2" (4-1/4" x 8-1/2") (3-1/4" x 6-1/2") strip into two 5-1/4" (4-1/4") (3-1/4") squares. Stack these squares and cut them in half on both diagonals to make eight large quarter square triangles...

Make the four quarter squares by sewing together the Color 1 and Color 2  5-1/4"(4-1/4")(3-1/4") quarter square triangles as shown at left, using a scant 1/4" seam. Trim the completed quarter squares to 4-1/2"(3-1/2")(2-1/2") if needed...

Now lay out All the units as shown. Sew three horizontal rows, pressing the top and bottom row seams to the outside, and the middle row seam to the center. Join the rows, and the first Go-along star is done!
