Using the templates provided cut four small trapezoids and four larger trapezoids from the Color 3  6-1/2" x 11-1/2" strip...

 

Next speed piece the corner half square units, by stacking pairs of Color 1 and Color 2  2-7/8" squares right sides together and all edges aligned. On the back of the top squares, lightly mark the diagonals. Now sew 1/4" above and below the marked diagonals. Now cut apart on the marked diagonals between the rows of stitching. This will give you a total of four half squares. Press seam allowances towards the darker fabric. These should measure 2-1/2" ...

 

 

Now sew the block's center unit, using the Color 1  1-1/2" squares, the Color 2  1-1/2" x 2-1/2" rectangles, and the Color 3  2-1/2" square.1/4" seams will be used for this and for the rest of the block construction. Sew three horizontal rows, alternating pressing directions by row, then join the rows to complete the center unit...

 

 

Next to make one flying geese unit, place a Color 2  2-1/2" square right sides together atop one end of a Color 3 rectangle, with outer edges aligned. On the back of the top square lightly mark the diagonal. Sew on this diagonal marking. Cut off the excess seam allowance. Press the remainder towards the corner. Repeat this with another Color 2 square on the other end of the rectangle. Make four flying geese units in the same manner...

 

Now we will start piecing the block! Sew a flying geese unit to the left and right of the center unit. Press seams towards geese. Add a small trapezoid to each of the flying geese, pressing seams towards traps...

 

 

Sew a Color 1 half square triangle to the left and right of  the remaining two flying geese units. Press seams towards geese...
