Now sew half squares and Color 1 squares together to make two of the units shown at left, pressing seams towards the darker color...

Piece the four pieced quadrants to complete the block, pressing seams in alternating direction by row! :o)

This works very well with even numbers of blocks in all rows! Here are four blocks by six, with a pieced border!

Color 1 needs: one 2-1/2" x 10" strip AND one 2-7/8" square

Color 2

Color 2 needs: one 2-7/8" x 8-5/8" strip Color 3 Color 3 needs: one 5-1/4" x 8-1/4" rectangle

Color 4

Color 4 needs: one 2-7/8" x 5-3/4" strip AND one 2-7/8" x 8-5/8" strip
