The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Summer Night Star block! You will need to print out two copies of the template 1 + 2  pages and one copy of the 3 page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. You also need one 2-1/2" center square.  Fat quarters should be plenty!

After all units have been paper pieced, lay them out as shown at left. Sew three horizontal rows, pressing the top and bottom row seams to the outside, and the middle row seam to the center. Sew the rows together to complete your block!

Here are three blocks by three with alternating colors in the stars. You might like to print off this Coloring Page to help plan your quilt arrangement with crayons or colored pencils!
