 Sew eight Color 1 and Color 4  2-1/2" squares together in pairs using 1/4" seams. Press seams to darker side...

Sew each pair we just made to a Color 4 rectangle, pressing seams towards the rectangles...

Now sew a Color 4 small square right sides together to one end of each Color 2 and Color 3 rectangle. Trim off the excess seam allowance, and press the remainder towards the rectangle...

Sew pairs of these rectangle units together as shown at left, using a 1/4" seam, and pressing seam to one side. Make four of each unit shown at left...

Piece two of the units shown at far left, using the corner units, the pieced rectangle units and the Color 3  4-1/2" square. Alternate pressing directions by row. Center the Color 4 circle over the center square of each unit. Pin in place, and appliqué it to the unit's center using thread to match the circle, turning under edges as you go...

Piece the block by sewing the four finished units together as shown at left. Alternate pressing directions by row...
