This is a take off on an old pattern called Rolling Stone :o) It's a 12" block!

Please abide by the Terms and Conditions of use! :o)

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Stack the  2-7/8" fabric strips, and using a rotary cutter cut these into 2-7/8" squares. This will give you six Color 1 squares, eight Color 2 squares and two Color 3 squares.
Stack the resulting 2-7/8" squares, and using a rotary cutter cut them on the diagonal, being careful not to stretch the fabrics...
Piece these Half Square Triangles together using 1/4" seams to make the Half Square units shown at left. Sew twelve Color 1 triangles to Color 2 triangles. Sew four Color 2 triangles to Color 3 triangles. Press to dark side; these should measure 2-1/2" ...

Now piece the block, by first making rows and then sewing the rows together. Be sure to alternate pressing directions!...and there you have it! a completed Rolling Gears Block!! ...on to Page 2!
