This makes a 12" block!

It's SCRAP TIME again Folks! Time to use up leftovers from previous projects---clear out that Stash a bit so we can BUY MORE FABRIC!! :o)

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by cutting your light and dark 4-7/8" squares on the diagonal. I show one light and one dark square here; you need to cut four light and four dark squares for all different pieces within each block...

Then stack and cut two dark and two light 5-1/4" squares on the diagonal, then cut the resultant triangles on the diagonal again...

Now sew a light half square triangle to a dark. Make four of these, all different! These should come out to be 4-1/2" square.. Press seams towards darker fabric...

Next sew a dark quarter square triangle to a light. Make another pair of dark and light, and sew them together to make the center quarter square. These should also measure 4-1/2" square...

And piece the block, referring to the diagram at left for placement. Row 1 = half square/square/half square. Row 2 = square/quarter square/square. Row 3 = half square/square/half square, and that's it! Alternate pressing directions by square and by row...on to Page 2!
