This makes a 7-1/4" block and is paper pieced !

The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Rainbow Wheel! You will need to print out two copies of the template A page, and one of the B page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. Scraps or FQ's will be fine!

 

 

After all units are paper pieced, sew the top unit, right sides together,  to the center unit, from the left edge to a point 1/4" from the end of the center square. Backstitch one stitch here. Press seam towards top unit...

 

Now, moving counter clock-wise, add the left hand unit...
 

Then add the bottom unit...

...on to Page 2!
