I'm a beginner quilter and am trying to decide what is the best to hand quilt. At the present I am using a hoop. It gets cumbersome at times. And I find the need to prop it on the edge of a table to help hold it up. I want very much to learn to hand qu lt but I get discouraged because of not being able to hold it properly. I don't think that I want a big quilting frame because of the size and don't believe that I will be getting into that much quilting. It seems that so many quilters are haveing their quilts machine quilted. I'm not interested in making quilts for show quality but do want them to be nicely done. thanks for the patterns. I, too like to use traditional patterns as a point of departure for my quilts. I have a large cube lattice quilt up on my design wall right now, of course, the block name was different, but I would know all those set in corners an where! It is becoming like a houseguest that won't go away. since I only had a picture of the block and no piecing instructions, I am hoping yours will speed things up. The variations that can be realized from these classic blocks is infinite.

WOW!!! I am just a beginner quilter, and let me say that you really made things easy for me. I din't know where to start, or how. I thought I would have to take a class somewhere, but I was able to do the "Card Trick" block without any problems at all. My very first piece!!! I love the way to put it together, and show the finished sample, so those of us, who have no clue, can see it done. Your patterns were unbelievably the most beautiful I have seen and I have been surfing for about eight hours. I like the fact that your instructions are in full color however it does eat up the ink cartridges. Oh well, I just wanted to let you know that I loved this sight and will recommend it to other fellow quilters! Dear Marcia, I stumbled apon your site a couple of months ago and I was so excited. I have been wanting to start quilting and looking at your blocks and your very easy instructions I am gaining confidence that I can create a beutiful quilt. I have a very close riend who gave me a basket with loads of quilting supplies. I have started puchasing material and have a general idea of what I would like to make. I don't have time to attend a class in my area due to work schedule and my small children. Do you have a y suggestions on the best way to get started or a beginners book that may help me. I have a Joann's fabrics and a Hancock fabrics close to me that carry lots of fabric and quilting supplies. Thank you very much for your lovely blocks, I think that I would like to use your mystery block from the first part of January 2000 call "Summer Winds" as my first quilt. After preparing the quilt top, how would you suggest I quilt it? I am a Nurse in Humble, TX. I work in Labor and Delivery and have time in the evening to work as my husband travels alot. I just started a quilting class last week. I have always sewen, but have never tried quilting. I very much enjoy your web site with all the different kinds of blocks. I found it at work and now my workbuddies go into it. Right now me and 3 of my coworke s are doing a wall hanging. After that I want to do your "Christmas Star." Thank you for sharing your designs.
