** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Being sure to cut about 1/8" to 1/4" larger than your template for turning under. Cut out all your pieces, four leaves, each cut from an approx. 4" square...the ring, cut from an approx. 3"square...the acorn bottoms, cut from an approx. 4" x 3" rectangle...and the acorn caps, cut from an approx. 2" x 4" rectangle...

Next pin the four leaves to an 8" to 8-1/2" background square. It helps to finger crease the background square to locate the center, and diagonally finger crease in halves. Use the diagonal creases for placement of the leaves. Turn under edges and applique leaves...

Then pin on the ring so that it is centered, and covers the leaf tails. Applique... on to Page 2!
