This makes a 10" block!

This is a reworking of an old block that could have easily been one of the world's worst inset seam nightmares! :o)

4 Blocks x 6 Blocks makes a perfect Project Linus Quilt Sized Quilt!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1  5" x 14" strip into four 2-1/2 x 4-1/2" rectangles and four 2-1/2" squares...

Then mark and cut the Color 2  5" x 14" strip into four 2-1/2 x 4-1/2" rectangles and four 2-1/2" squares. Also cut one additional 2-1/2" square...

Now mark and cut the Color 1  1-1/2" x 18" strip into twelve 1-1/2" squares...

Sew each of the larger Color 1 and Color 2 squares into pairs, using scant 1/4" seams. Press seams to darker side..

Make two corner units by adding a Color 1 rectangle to the right side of a square pair with Color 1 on the bottom...and two more with Color 1 on the top...

Make the pointed units by placing a small Color 1 square right sides together against the top right corner of a Color 2 rectangle. Draw in the diagonal on the back of the small square. Sew on this drawn line. Cut off the excess seam allowance, pressing the remainder towards the outer triangle. Repeat this with another small square on the lower right corner. Make four units like this. Trim them back to be 2-1/2" x  4-1/2" if needed... on to Page 2!
