** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by  marking and cutting the Color 1   2-1/2" x 30" strip into twelve 2-1/2" squares...

Then mark and cut the Color 2  2-1/2" x 27-1/2" strip into eleven 2-1/2" squares...

 

Now mark and cut the Color 3  2-1/2" x 40" strip into sixteen 2-1/2" squares...

Mark and cut the Color 4   2-1/2" x 18" strip into four 2-1/2" x  4-1/2" rectangles...

 

Next mark and cut the Color 5  2-1/2" x   20" strip into eight 2-1/2" squares...

Then mark and cut the Color 5  2-1/2" x 36" strip into eight 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles...

 

 

Mark and cut the Color 5  2-1/2" x 34" strip into four 2-1/2" x 8-1/2" rectangles ... 

First place a Color 1  2-1/2" square atop the right end of a Color 5  2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangle, right sides together. On the back of the top square, lightly mark the diagonal. Sew ON the diagonal. Cut off the excess seam allowance, and press the remainder towards the rectangle. Make another of these with the Color 1 square on the opposite end as shown at left. Then make two more units the same way, using Color 2 squares.( again, on opposing ends) Make four more using Color 3 squares, 2 in each direction...on to Page 2!
