The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Leonard in the Sky with Diamonds block! You will need to print out one copy of the template page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper.

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by sewing the Color 3, 1 and 4  1-1/2" x 12" strips together along the long edges to make the unit shown at top left. Press seams towards darker strip in the center. Cut this apart at 1-1/2" intervals ...

Now sew together the Color 1, Color 4 and Color 1  1-1/2" x 4-1/2" strips to make the unit shown at top left. Cut apart at 1-1/2"" intervals.  Next sew ONE of these units between TWO of the units above to make a Nine Patch unit. Make four of these in total...

Paper piece the four corner unit. Once they are done lay out your block units as shown at left. Sew three horizontal rows. Join the rows to complete the block! ...on to Page 2!
