** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by cutting the Color 1 and Color 2  2-3/8" squares in half once to get two half square triangles of each...

Do the same with the Color 1 and Color 2  4-7/8" squares...

Mark and cut the Color 1 and Color 2  2-1/4" x 5-1/4" strips into two 2-1/4" x 2-5/8" rectangles of each...

Now mark and cut the Color 3  3-3/4" x 7-1/2" strip into two 3-3/4" squares. Stack these and cut them on both diagonals to make eight quarter square triangles...

Sew a Color 3 quarter square triangle right sides together to the left and right of a Color 1 rectangle in a 1/4" seam. as shown at top left. Press seams to darker sides.  Now sew a Color 2 half square triangle to the left corner as shown at far bottom left. Add a Color 1 half square triangle to finish one quarter of the block. Make another unit like this, and two more with Color 2 where the Color 1 pieces were in these... on to Page 2!
