The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Jacob's Strings block! You will need to print out one copy of the template page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper.

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by cutting the Color 1  3-7/8" x 7-3/4" strip into two 3-7/8" squares. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles. Now cut the Color 1  2" x 12" strip into six 2" squares...
From SCRAPS, cut six 2" squares, and strips that are 2" wide by the lengths shown at left...

To make the block's center diagonal row, sew three Four patch units using the Color 1 and scrap 2" squares. These should measure 3-1/2".  Sew a Color 1 half square triangle to the lower left of one of the four patch units.  Sew a half square triangle to the lower left and upper right of one four patch unit. Sew a half square triangle to the upper right of one four patch unit...on to Page 2!
