** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Cut the Color 2  3" x 5" strip into four 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" rectangles...

Next sew the Color 1 and Color 3  1-1/2" x 14" strips together along one long edge in a scant 1/4" seam. Press seam to dark side. Cut apart at 3-1/2" intervals...

 

Sew a Color 2 rectangle to one end of each pieced unit from the step above and press seam towards new addition...
 

 

Next sew the Color 1 square to the left side (Color 2 end) of a pieced unit from the top edge to a point 1/4" from the bottom of the square. Backstitch one stitch at that point. Press seam towards pieced unit...

 

Now sew a pieced unit to the top, with the Color 2 end on the left and press towards new addition...
