** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by cutting the Color 1  2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares...

Then cut the Color 1  2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip into four 2-7/8" squares. Stack these squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles...

Next cut the Color 2  2-1/2" x 12-1/2" strip into five 2-1/2" squares...

Now cut the Color 3  2-1/2" x 20" strip into eight 2-1/2" squares...

Cut the Color 3  2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip into four 2-7/8" squares. Stack these squares and cut them once on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles...

Using a scant 1/4" seam, sew the Color 1 and Color 3  half square triangles right sides together in pairs. Press seams to darker side. Trim these to measure 2-1/2" if needed.  Make eight units like this...on to Page 2!
