This makes a 6" block, and is paper pieced!

The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Paper Piecing Practice Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try the Formal Garden! You will need to print out one copy of each unit needed per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. A Fat Quarter of each fabric will be plenty!

After your three rows are paper pieced, join the rows, using the standard SCANT 1/4" seams to make the block! Press rows in alternating directions. The Formal Garden Block is often done with a separate color in the center square, however, I liked it better this way! :o)

This quilt is made with every other block a mirrored image...to do that, you would need to paper piece alternate blocks on the FRONT of the paper, rather than on the back.

Happy Quilting All!
