** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

 Using the templates provided, cut out four parallelograms from Color 1, and four from Color 2. Then cut four triangles form Color 3...

Sew four pairs of parallelograms right sides together as shown at left, along one long edge, and using scant 1/4" seams Press seam to darker side. You will have four units like this...

Sew each parallelogram set, right sides together, to the right side of each Color 3 triangle. Press seams towards the parallelograms. You will have four units like this...

Mark a point on the 1/4" sewing line on each corner of the Color 1  4-1/2"center square. Now sew the Color 1 center square right sides together to one of the previously made units, between the two 1/4" marks, backstitching at beginning and end of this seam to secure stitching. Sew the remaining parallelogram units to the remaining sides of the square in the same manner, stitching only between the 1/4" marks, and being careful not to catch any other fabric in those seams...on to Page 2!
