        the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |

		 | Here I show a small diagram of
        one quarter of the block, with the pieces numbered, for future reference throughout the
        block's construction, the "s" stands for square... |

		 | Start by piecing the arcs. First
        join two Piece 2s, then add Piece 1's to either end. Make four of these units of each
          lights (red) and darks (blue)... |

		 | To each end of each light arc,
        sew a small square. Make four of these units... |

		 | Sew a football shape to the inner
        curve of each dark arc. To do this, match the centers and edges, pin at these points
        first, and then more as needed. It may help to make tiny snips in the arc seam within, but
        NOT past the 1/4" seam line... |

		 | Now sew a background shape
        between two dark arcs, again, following the same rules of joining curves. Match the
        centers and edges and pin those. Pin more if needed. Again, you may make tiny clips in the
        A shape edges up to, but NOT through its 1/4" seam line... ...on to
