** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |

Cut the Color 1 3-1/2" x 7" strip into two 3-1/2" squares. Cut the Color 1 3-7/8 x 7-3/4" strip into two 3-7/8" squares. Stack these and cut them in half once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles. Cut the Color 1 4-1/4" x 8-1/2" strip into two 4-1/4" squares. Stack these and cut them once on both diagonals to make eight quarter square triangles. (You only need six for one block) |

Sew the half square triangles right sides together using a scant 1/4" seam. Press to darker side. Trim to measure 3-1/2" if needed. Make four units like this... |

Sew the quarter square triangles right sides together in pairs using a scant 1/4" seam. Press to dark side. Join the pairs to make a quarter square. Trim to measure 3-1/2" if needed. Make three units like this... |
