The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Dollar Day at the Races Block! You will need to print out four copies of each template page per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. Fat Quarters will be ample!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1 and Color 2  3" x 10-1/2" strips into fourteen 1-1/2" squares of each...

Then mark and cut the Color 3  3" x 18" strip into twenty-four 1-1/2" squares...

Using the templates provided each cut two each of the corner shapes from Color 1 and Color 2   7" x 24" rectangles...

Sew the small squares together to make four patches as shown at left. Make six yellow and blue...six green and yellow... and one green and blue. Square these off to measure 2-1/2" if needed...

Now paper piece the side corner units using the pp templates provided. Sew them to the Corner regular template units as shown at left, pivoting on the 1/4" seam line at the inside corner points. Make two blue corner units and two green corner units...on to Page 2!
