This block is also known as David and Goliath!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1  2" x 24" strip into twelve 2" squares...

Then mark and cut the Color 1  2" x 14" strip into four 2" x 3-1/2" rectangles...

Next mark and cut the Color 1  2" x 20" strip into four 2" x 5" rectangles...

Now mark and cut the Color 2  3-1/2" x 14" strip into four 3-1/2" squares...

Mark and cut the Color 2  4" x 20" strip into eight 2" x 5" rectangles...

Then mark and cut the Color 3  4" x 16" strip into sixteen 2" squares...

Now mark and cut the Color 3  7" x 14" strip into eight 3-1/2" squares...

Place a small Color 3 square right sides together lined up with one end of a small Color 1 rectangle. On the back of the small square drawn in the diagonal, and sew ON this drawn line. Cut off the excess seam allowance and press the remainder towards the rectangle. Make two units like each of those shown at left...on to Page 2!
