** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

Cut the Color 1 and Color 2  3"x 18" strips into six 3" squares of each. Cut ONE of each color in half on the diagonal to make two small half square triangles of each color...
 

 

Here's an enlargement showing the piecing process for your small half squares! To make these, pair the remaining five Color 1 and Color 2  3" squares right sides together and all edges aligned. On the back of the top squares lightly draw in the diagonals, and then sew a scant 1/4" away on each side of the drawn lines. Cut apart on the drawn lines. Press seams to the darker sides. Trim off the small points that will be sticking out. You will now have ten half squares ...

 

 

Cut the Color 1 and Color 2  5-1/8" squares in half once on the diagonal to make two medium half square triangles of each. You only need ONE of each per block you want to make, so hold the others for another block or project...

 

Cut the Color 2  6-7/8" x 13-3/4" strip into two 6-7/8" squares. Stack and cut these once on the diagonal to make four large half square triangles...on to Page 2!
