Next, using a Color 1/Color 2 combo this time, add a Color 3 triangle to the top, then a Color 2 triangle to the bottom. Press as above. Make one more of these units, then sew two more with the added small triangles reversed, that is, the Color 2 on top, and the Color 3 on the bottom...

 

Then sew each one of these combo triangles to a Color 1 large triangle, again using scant 1/4" seams. Press seams towards large triangle...

Do the same with the second kind of combo triangles we made...

Now you can piece the block, first by sewing rows , and then connecting these rows together. Remember to alternate directions by row when pressing out seams...

Color 2 Color 2 needs: one 2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip AND one 2-7/8" x 5-3/4" strip 
Color 3 Color 3 needs: one 2-7/8" x 5-3/4" strip AND one 2-7/8" square
