The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Caned Seat block! You will need to print out one copy of the template A page, two of the B+C pages per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. A Fat Quarter of each fabric will be plenty!

After all units are paper pieced, Join one Unit C to one Unit B then add one Unit A. Make two of these. Now join one Unit E to one Unit D and add one Unit F. Make two of those. Sew the four units together to finish the block!

Here are four blocks by five!
