The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Paper Piecing Practice Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try a Butterfly! You will need to print out one copy of each of the seven units needed per block you want to make on very lightweight paper.  I suggest that you leave the paper on the units until the whole block is pieced, for stability. :o) A Fat Quarter of each fabric should be plenty!

Once you have the units all pieced, start sewing them together as shown at left. Use all SCANT 1/4" seams. First piece the left side of the block...

and then the right...

Now join the two sides with the center strip...on to Page 2!
