** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

First cut six quarter square triangles using the template, from a Color 1  3-3/4" x 7-1/2" strip, using the template provided. Next, also using a template, cut ten squares from the Color 1  4-1/2" x 10-1/2" strip...

Using the template provided cut five large squares from the Color 2  3-1/2" x 17-1/2" strip. Then cut the Color 2  2-7/8" x 5-3/4" strip into two 2-7/8" squares. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal to make four half square triangles for the block's corners- or use the template if you prefer. Cut six quarter square triangles using the template, from a Color 2  3-3/4" x 7-1/2" strip. Again using the template, cut ten squares from the Color 2  4-1/2" x 10-1/2" strip...

Using all scant 1/4" seams now and throughout the block construction, sew together one unit as shown at left. This uses 3 Color 2 lg. squares, 2 Color 2 half square triangles, two Color 2 sm. squares and two Color 1 sm. squares...

Sew two of each of the corner sub-units shown at left...

Now sew a unit B to a unit C, and make two of those. Sew a unit B-rev to a unit C-rev and make two of those...on to Page 2!
