I'm going to elect this one as The Easiest Block of the Year!

...Hands Down!

It makes a 12" block!

Please abide by the Terms and Conditions of use! :o)

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Stack the Color 1 and Color 2 strips right sides together and all edges aligned. On the back of the top strip, lightly mark 3-7/8" square lines; mark the the diagonals in the direction shown at left as well. Sew a SCANT 1/4" above and below the marked diagonals. Cut apart ON the marked diagonals, and on the 3-7/8" square lines as well. This will give you all sixteen half squares! Press seam allowances towards the darker fabrics. Trim to measure 3-1/2" if needed...

Now piece the block, referring to the diagram at left for placement of each square. First make rows, and then sew the rows together to make the Block. Be sure to alternate pressing directions by row to avoid those uggy bulky seams! :o)

Here's a quilt of Broken Dishes with a thin sashing in between the blocks, and triple thin borders around the whole!

Happy Quilting!
