** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by cutting the Color 1  5" x 20" strip into sixteen 2-1/2" squares...

Cut each of the Color 6 through Color 2 strips in half as shown at left...

To make the individual log units, first line up a Color 1 square right sides together and edges aligned with a Color 6  2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangle. Draw in the diagonal on the back of the square and stitch ON the drawn line. Trim off the excess seam allowance, pressing the remainder towards the Color 1. Sew a Color 1 square to the opposite end of the Color 6 rectangle. That makes a unit A.  Now line up a Color 1 square right sides together and edges aligned with the other Color 6  2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangle, on the opposite end. Draw in the diagonal on the back of the square (note the direction) and stitch ON the drawn line. Trim off the excess seam allowance, pressing the remainder towards the Color 1.This makes a unit B...

Make a unit A and a unit B from each of the other rectangles...on to Page 2!
