This makes about a 9" block!...depending on what size background square you appliqué the lab to!

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Since there are many pieces, print off several copies of the template. Darken the outlines for each piece you will need...cut out...add the 1/4" seam allowances. Dotted lines on the templates show pieces that are underneath other pieces. You'll also need some embroidery floss to embroider the lab's eye.

Follow the directions below for order of placement :o)

Start by piecing together a strip of "ground" fabric with your background white. Square this back to the size background square you would like. it should be at least 9" square... 

You will want to use this image at left for a color placement guide of the lab. Lt. Gray = Color 5, Turquoise = Color 3, Royal = Color 4.

Now lay on the grass section, and appliqué in place using thread to match the grasses...on to Page 2!
