Cut the four Color 2  1" x 30" strips into three 1" x 10" strips from each. Cut the four Color 3  1-1/4" x 20" strips into two 1-1/4" x 10" strips from each. Cut the four Color 3  1" x 20" strips into two 1" x 10" strips from each...now...

** Let's Get to the Sewing ** 

Using a scant 1/4" seam sew Color 1 and Color 3 half square triangles together to make half squares. Press seams to darker side. Trim these back to measure 4-1/2" if needed. Make sixteen of these units...

 Sew two Color 3  1-1/4"  x 10" strips and three Color 2  1" x  10" strips and two Color 3  1" x  10" strips together as shown at far left, using scant 1/4" seam allowances and pressing seams to the darker sides. Mark and cut this at 2-1/2" intervals. Repeat this with the other Color 2 and Color 3 strips of the same size to make a total of sixteen of these pieced strip units...

 Now lay out the half squares, pieced strip units and center 2-1/2" squares as shown at left. Sew the horizontal rows, pressing top and bottom row seams to the outside, and middle row seams to the center. Make four blocks like this...

** Now on to the Wall Hanging ** 

To make the rectangle units, place a Color 2 square right sides together atop a Color 4 rectangle, with edges aligned. On the back of the top square lightly mark the diagonal. Sew ON this diagonal marking. Cut off the excess seam allowance. Press the remainder towards the triangle. Repeat this with another Color 2 square on the other end of the rectangle. Make sixteen units like this...on to Page 3!
